Ron Hurtado: Run for Crescent Kids - TCS London Marathon 2027

My Story

My name is Ron Hurtado and on 25 April 2027 I will be running the TCS London Marathon for Crescent Kids, a charity dedicated to giving children with sickle cell disease and thalassemia a pain-free life. 🧡

But I am not waiting until race day to make a difference.

Over the next 12 months I will be taking on a series of monthly challenges, running races, cycling events, open water swims, mountain hikes and more, all self-funded, all in the name of raising awareness for Crescent Kids and the children they support. Every month. Every discipline. One mission: #StopThePain.

As a parent, I have had my own journey that has given me a deep appreciation of what it means to watch a child struggle with illness, and the toll it takes on the whole family. That experience is what drives my passion for supporting charities that fight for children's health and wellbeing, and it is what led me to Crescent Kids.

I have the privilege of working closely with Funmi (Vanessa), the incredible woman behind Crescent Kids. Through her leadership, the charity runs outreach days, meets families at their most vulnerable moments and provides hands-on support that genuinely transforms lives. Seeing the impact of this work up close has only strengthened my resolve to do everything I can to help.

Sickle cell disease causes episodes of severe, debilitating pain in children who have no choice but to endure it. Crescent Kids provides free blood transfusions, medications and outreach care to these children and their families in the UK and in Africa. They are changing lives, and your donation helps them do it.

This is not just a marathon. This is a year-long journey and I want you with me every step, pedal, stroke and summit of the way. Follow my progress, cheer me on, and please donate whatever you can.

My target is £2,620 - £100 for every mile of the 26.2 mile course. Every mile I run, a child gets closer to a pain-free life. 🧡.
